SINGAPORE : Help is on the way to keep Singapore’s digital map up-to-date.
Using laser sensors and global positioning system (GPS), cartographers from Tele Atlas will collect different sets of data as they drive their mobile mapping van to very corner of Singapore.
The information collected is then processed to determine locations of roads, objects and buildings.
The completed digital map can then be used by GPS navigation systems found in cars. They can be used by Internet map providers as well
After the van will begin collecting data for the complete road network of other countries in the region. - CNA /ls
